Tulum, Mexico

This year, Jamie and I went to Tulum, Mexico for a whole week to celebrate Jamie’s new job, as well as all of our other 2016 milestones. Tulum has been on my travel bucket list for a couple years now, and I was thrilled to finally visit!

Because we planned our trip on short notice, we weren’t able to get one hotel reservation for the whole week, so we stayed in two different locations which ended up being so much fun. The first half of the week we stayed at Be Tulum. Think tropical forest meets white sand beaches meets trendy, with dreamy beach beds, comfortable yet stylish rooms, and swanky beach club. The second half of our trip, we stayed at Cabanas Tulum, which was more of a beach club, with clean white decor and a delicious smoothie bar in the lobby. These two hotels couldn’t have been more different, which made our trip a lot of fun!

Some of my favorite things about Tulum:
1. It’s small and intimate
2. You can walk or ride a bike to see the whole strip
3. The beaches are gorgeous and go on forever
4. The food is incredible
5. The cenotes are unlike anything I have ever seen

Tulum, you are full of delicious food, wonderful people and breathtaking views. Thank you for giving us an unforgettable week! We’ll be back!

Steamboat Springs, Colorado

August 24, 2016

This summer, my best friend Mary Courtney and I flew out to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to spend a long weekend with my mom and it was one of my favorite trips of the summer! For the past couple of years, my mom has moved to Colorado for the summer to train for her upcoming races, hike and explore, and because she just loves it out there, and I don’t blame her. The weather is amazing – think warm days, cool evenings, and zero humidity and the mountains are breathtaking.

We packed our long weekend with tons of amazing activities, most of which took place outside. We tubed down the Yampa River, hiked Devil’s Causeway, Fish Creek Falls and hiked up the Steamboat Springs Ski Resort and took the gondola down, went to the local rodeo two nights in a row, and woke up early to go to the annual hot air balloon rodeo.

Charleston Romantic Row House

August 3, 2016

calliedavis-9weststreet-1018 When Jamie and I visited Charleston in April, we stayed in this Historic Romantic Downtown Row House. It is a newly renovated, two story, one bedroom row house with tons of gorgeous natural light and an “Old Warm Charm.” It’s just 2 blocks away from many restaurants, shops and historic sites, and we were able to walk (or bike!) everywhere. We loved the way that it made us feel like we were coming home after a long day, instead of a hotel room! If you are planning a trip to Charleston, we would highly recommend it!

2nd Anniversary in Charleston, SC

July 20, 2016

calliedavis-charleston-1006

To celebrate our second wedding anniversary, Jamie planned an awesome trip to Charleston a month before our actual anniversary. Want to know a really funny story? This whole trip was supposed to be a big surprise for me. Jamie had everything planned out and was hoping to tell me to pack my bags the morning of our trip, send me off to work and then leave that afternoon, not telling me where we were going until halfway through the drive. Let’s just say things didn’t work out as he had planned, but I felt so loved and cared for to find out about his original plan! A month before our trip, I started insisting on going on a short trip for our anniversary and of course suggested Charleston. He played it cool, and acted like we shouldn’t do that and I could tell something was wrong. The nosy woman that I am, I got the surprise out of him and was so excited to go back to hear about the trip he had already planned!

We had not been back to Charleston by ourselves since our wedding and I was so excited to do all of our favorite things as a married couple. On our way into Charleston, we stopped at River Oaks where we were married and spent the late afternoon picnicking on the dock, walking around the property and reminiscing all the moments that happened on our wedding day, and catching up with Marianne, the owner of the venue. It was an afternoon that I won’t ever forget. We popped a bottle of champagne, enjoyed a delicious spread of cheeses and meats, and danced to our first dance song. We filled in these sentences: “Two years ago… and in two years…” We laughed, celebrated our accomplishments and had a fun conversation about our future. I’m so grateful for this sweet time of celebration.

Charleston is one of our favorite places not only because we were married there but because of it’s rich history, beautiful architecture, delicious food and beautiful beaches. We stayed downtown at a beautiful row house, which allowed us to walk or bike everywhere!

If you’re planning a trip, be sure to check out the lists below of our favorite restaurants and daytime activities, and please comment or contact me, as I would love to celebrate your trip with you!
