Happy Birthday Robert Hayes Davis!

March 31, 2016

calliedavis-hayesbirth-1025 People have told me that being an Aunt is one of the best roles in life, but I had no idea just how great it was, until I got to hold my perfect nephew hours after he was born.

Welcome to the world, Robert Hayes Davis!

My brother and sister in law decided to keep his name a secret from us. Although it was hard calling the baby “him” or “it” for almost 9 months, it was fun to anticipate the name that they had chosen. To make it even more fun, Clay sent out a list of 30 names and asked us to guess his full name from the names that he gave us.

My guess: Carter Robert(s) Davis
Jamie’s guess: Bryce Clay Davis
My Mother-in-law’s guess: Daniel Brooks Davis
My Father-in-law’s guess: Wesley Brooks Davis

Hayes, you are so dearly loved. Jamie and I can’t wait to spoil you and take you on countless adventures!

2015 Christmas Cards

December 22, 2015

calliedavis-christmascards15-1003

Merry Christmas! This year, Jamie and I chose Minted‘s gold foil “More Joy” Christmas card design by Kaydi Bishop. I love the simplicity of this card, and the way that the gold foil gives it an upscale festive feel! Nancy Ray Photography got a great picture of us for our card! Bokeh is even smiling! Just like last year, we also included our 2015 Year in Review with all of the cards that we sent out, which recapped all the things that we did this year. We included updates for each of us, including Bokeh, our travels and some funny statistics.

What do you think of our finished card?

One Year

June 17, 2015

calliedavis-firstanny-1011

How can it already be one year? I was telling a friend the other day that it seems like this year went by so fast, however I can’t remember what my life looked like before I was married to Jamie, so it seems like that was a lifetime ago. Marriage is beautiful in that kind of way and I am thankful. However, this year hasn’t been perfect, but it has been full of grace, and that is so much more beautiful that perfection. We don’t know all the answers, and are only in the beginning stages of our marriage, but so far, we can confidently say that chasing perfection, will always fail you. What will never fail you is sharing the grace that has been poured out on us by Jesus with each other. As ironic as it seems, grace is our perfect answer to marriage.

“But He gives us more GRACE.”
James 4:6b

Trust me when I say, this year has not been easy. There have been tears, anger, thankfulness, bitterness, great joy, sadness, lots of laughter, arguments, dance parties and so much growth. Each day with Jamie, I have learned something new, have been challenged, and encouraged to cling to Jesus over all.

To be honest, this was not the way that we had planned celebrating our first anniversary, but it was exactly what we needed; a day at home paired with fun activities! We went to church, picked strawberries, went on a long bike ride, prepared a romantic dinner on our deck and ate off our wedding china, ate the top tear of our frozen wedding cake, and watched our wedding video. But most importantly, we were together, and that’s all we needed.

Here’s to many more years, my love!

Murder Mystery Birthday Party

January 28, 2015

nancyray-calliesbday-1013

With the passing of prohibition and organized crime on the rise. The Juice Joint, a swanky speakeasy run by Rosie Marie, has been nothing but jumping. To celebrate its success, Rosie is planning a party to remember at the exclusive nightspot…and you are invited! However, one of the names on the guest list is also on another’s hit list…and not one is safe from the consequences.

No matter how old I get, I don’t think I will ever stop playing dress up. This year we celebrated in the roaring 20’s with fake cigarettes, feather boas, fringe, top hats and slicked back hair. In our best New York accents, we fought, connived and schemed our way in figuring out who murdered Notorious Nick Nemetz, the North side mob boss. Was it Flora Nemetz-gadora, Nick’s angry ex-wife, his fiancé Molly Mol who was only after his money or Rosie Marie who believed he killed her husband? I don’t want to give too much away in case you are interested in playing (click here for more info!), but I can tell you that we had so much fun and we will most definitely be doing it again!

And of course, we couldn’t end the night without some awesome awards!

Smoking Gun Award: Will Ray (He was the ONLY one who guessed the murderer correct!)
Dressed to Kill Award: Nancy Ray
Drama Queen Award: Courtney Lancaster
Mr. Money Bags Award: Clay Davis (He collected almost triple the amount of money he started out with!)

Christmas Cards 2014

December 19, 2014

calliedavis-christmascards-1001

Since I was a child, Christmas cards have been one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I remember begging my mom to open our cards as they came in day by day, anxious to see the beautiful picture and who it was from. I have dreamt of the day that I would be able to design our own Christmas card and thanks to this beautiful hand painted Minted design, I am so happy with how they turned out! Majority of our Christmas cards went to our out of town or long distance family members and friends, so I wanted to include something  a bit more personal. Jamie and I gathered our favorite things that happened this year, our travels and some statistics, and I designed our Year in Review on Illustrator. It’s not only a fun thing for our friends and family to read, but a fun thing for us to keep so we can remember this wonderful year!

Merry Christmas from our little family to yours!
