Half Marathon Journey: Week 8

March 7, 2016

Four Words: 6.5 Miles.

On Friday, the Davis family set a new personal record – longest run (half of a half marathon!!) and coldest run (I could see my breath during the whole run). Insert all the praise hands!! We did it, and I am so proud! This week is a much deserved reduced load (rest) week and for the first time in my life, running only 3 miles sounds easy and restful!

Last week, I enjoyed the most amazing day at the Umstead Spa and got a much needed full body massage. This was so helpful for my tight calf and hip issues that I have been experiencing. Jamie and I also got new running shoes over the weekend. If you read my last post, I have also been dealing with my feet falling asleep, and after talking to some doctors and my coach, we think that my shoes might be the issue. I have tiny very fat feet with an extremely high arch, and since I began training my fat feet have been running in a normal width shoe. The wonderful people at Capital Run Walk suggested this shoe in wide, and I am hopeful that it will help the situation!

Miles this week: 18 Miles
Total Miles: 98 Miles
