March 2016 Goals

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-25

Thanks to a chapter in the book What Did You Expect, I have been thinking a lot about the fruits of the spirit; in my marriage, in my relationships, and in my job. “What does it look like to serve your spouse, friend, mother, boss, coworker in love (fill in any fruit of the spirit) look like? So often I let impatience and irritation get the best of me. So often I am jealous and unforgiving. So often I fail to find joy in serving and satisfaction in giving. So often I would rather win than have unity and peace. I tell myself that I will do better, but I fall into the same old traps. Lord won’t you strengthen me by your grace so that I can love as you have called me to love?”

“So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other.” (Galatians 5:16-17) Fighting against our sinful nature to live by the Spirit is a battle, a lifelong battle. This month, I want to pray through these fruits of the spirit daily, and learn what it means to be committed to being loving, peaceful, patience, kind, good, faithful, gentle and have self-control.

Enjoy two fun weekends at the beach
Celebrate two family birthdays
Memorize 2 bible verses
Take 1 personal roll of film (I’ve done a terrible job documenting our life this year)
Fix the missing “About” page on the blog (where did you go?!)
Make a plan for our chicken coop (!!)

Ongoing goals:
Continue 1/2 marathon training
1 date night a week with Jamie
Blogging at least once a week
Sunday night questions with Jamie

    I am late in the game in reading this one, but… I WANT A CHICKEN COOP TOO! So fun. Obviously, the chickens will not fit on my apartment balcony, so I will live vicariously through your adventures. :)
