I love the way that flowers bring elegance to any event. On a wedding day, they can be best accessory and loveliest decoration. Jamie and I chose our wedding venue because of the gorgeous location and view. It was important to us that it didn’t feel like our wedding flowers were brought them in. We wanted the beautiful surroundings of River Oaks to be the showcase of our wedding decor, which is why we chose natural floral arrangements and bouquets that aligned with our color scheme and inspiration board above.
Jamie and I loved working with Marianne and her team at River Oaks Charleston. They provide full service planning as well as floral design, which was one less vendor that we had to work with. Marianne’s incredible sister, Deborah Gibson did a phenomenal job designing all the florals for our wedding. We were so happy with how everything turned out!
I wanted my bouquet to be soft, romantic with a little bit of movement. Because my mother’s wedding bouquet with very natural with only whites and greens, I wanted something similar. The textured ribbons added to my cascading bouquet completed it perfectly!
With the men wearing classic tuxedos, we decided to keep the boutonnieres black and white with a little bit of green using anemones and black and white ribbons. Jamie’s however was different than all of the others with a black and white striped ribbon wrap.
We repurposed the bridesmaids bouquets and ceremony florals as centerpieces at the reception and chose to decorate the tables with broken oyster shells instead of large floral arrangements. Because we decided to have our guests seated at long rectangle tables, it was important to us to have low and clean table decoration, in hopes that our guests would be able to have conversation instead of being blocked and distracted with large floral arrangements.
